Non-Smoking Express mobile exhibition – museum exhibition in school delivers the education of tobacco hazard prevention on campus.

After the mobile exhibition, “Say No to Smoking the Youngster”, for the prevention of tobacco hazard was held in three museums located in the North, Central and South Taiwan, attracting more than 250,000 visitors, the Bureau of Health Promotion worked cooperatively with the National Science and Technology Museum (hereafter refer to as the museum) again to hold the “Non-Smoking Express” mobile exhibition mainly for senior high and vocational school students. This exhibition will continue for one and a half year and show in 17 schools. These students who are busy with their school work, after school study and part-time job can spend some time in school to attend this exhibition.

The “Non-Smoking Express” mobile exhibition is featured with three sections. The first is the “Exhibition DIY” allowing students to DIY fabricate the exhibits for display; the second is the “Turning Words to Caricatures” that changes all words or descriptions of the exhibition to caricatures; the third is the “Exploration and Sharing”, allowing people to explore the exhibition through interactive displays. Displayed in six areas, four short caricatures show the impacts of smoking to economy, appearance and relationships, and also the plots of tobacco companies in marketing of tobacco products. The “Ten Years After” shows how you look after you smoke for ten years; the “Witness of Life” is the statements of people who have quitted smoking successfully; the “Lungs in Reality” shows the difference between healthy lungs and a smoker’s lungs; the challenge of “Tobacco Hazard Prevention” allows people to understand the new regulations of related laws and regulations; the “Breathe Out” allows you to test whether you have healthy lungs; the “Scale of Say No to Smoking” allows the students to declare that “Tobacco free youthhood rocks!”

This exhibition provides a good chance for people who are smoking, want to quit smoking, do not smoke and promoting the education of tobacco hazard prevention to communicate to each other. It will be held from October 8~24, 2008 in the hallway of the 1st floor basement of the museum; and on November 3 to December 5, it will be held alternately in 17 senior high and vocational schools in 7 counties and cities (Details about the exhibition dates and locations please visit the website www.nstm.gov.tw).
